SADDLEWORTH HOTEL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Jade and Matthew’s Saddleworth Hotel wedding photography

All wedding photographers will tell you, you can snatch some perfect moments if the bride, groom and wedding guests are relaxed enough to allow those up-close shots; the no posing photographs. Happily, this was one of those weddings! Jade and Matthew’s Saddleworth Hotel wedding photography allowed me to capture the day with a true story telling approach. It was a gorgeous wedding, crammed with laughter, tears (the good kind!), friendship, more laughter and some serious dancing! The weather was perfect, allowing friends and family to soak up the sun (and the alcohol!) whilst I snapped away.

Rarely have I had the opportunity to take wedding photographs against a back drop as dramatic as that of Jade and Matthew’s spring wedding. Family run, the Saddleworth Hotel is a labour-of-love type of establishment, my favourite kind, and they host a cracking ceremony! With pine forests to one side and Oldham’s majestic Castleshaw valley stretching out to the other, it does the Saddleworth Hotel a disservice to simply say ‘these are beautiful surroundings’; because they are breath-taking. What could be more romantic than photographs of a dazzling bride and a dapper groom (which you guys were!)   stepping into a setting as naturally awe-inspiring as this?

Jade was clearly in love with her stunning wedding dress, a refined fit-and-flare, spidered intricately with lace and gems from Adam Shaw Couture. The wedding dress boasted a fishtail train like a chiffon masterpiece, which made for some wonderful photographs! The four bridesmaids, a stylish bunch, were laughing away and sipping champagne as Jade had her hair pimped and makeup perfected by Gemma Noon and Chloe Winter. Thanks to these all-important preparations, the Moss Bros-sporting groom and groomsmen managed to slot in a quick beer before the main event. Like I said, a laid-back bunch of lads and ladies!

Tea Lights lining the aisles of the stunning ballroom flickered as the bride and groom said I Do in front of a floral feat of white flowers. The spectacular arrangements supplied by Kelly Louise Floral Artistry  matched the bride’s bouquet and groomsmen’s buttonholes. There were belly laughs during the wedding breakfast, courtesy of Best man Liam and his killer speech. The suggestion that Matthew’s wallet bursts into flames when touched lit up the room, literally! I like a speech with flare! The laughter carried on throughout the wedding day. There’s a great photograph of Jade and her bridesmaids sharing a joke after wedding nerves had evaporated. A favourite shot of mine is a particular wedding guest having such a roar I was sure his jaw would lock! I had to put that one on Facebook. It was definitely how a wedding day should be, explosions of happiness going off everywhere!

All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt – Charles Schultz

A towering chocolate affair was created by OJ Sugarcraft; this wedding cake was seriously begging to be demolished!  More fantastic Saddleworth Hotel wedding photographs continued to stockpile as the day’s fun and friendly atmosphere floated on into evening. The party really got going, as the bride took the lead and owned the dancefloor – always great to see! It was also heartwarming that young and old were so obviously enjoying this charming wedding.

A tremendous wedding day framed perfectly in front of a spine-tingling landscape. I dream of wedding photography amidst so much uncontrived, wild and natural beauty. It was a Wuthering Heights moment!

For a married couple whose big day I especially enjoyed photographing. Jade and Matthew, you’re heading straight towards a happy future in each other’s company, and I for one am guessing it’s going to be amazing.
