Laura and Mark

How wonderful it was to photograph Laura and Mark’s beautiful September wedding at 30 James Street in Liverpool.  The hotel itself is dedicated to the White Star Line and is dressed in the style of the flagships Titanic and Carpathia.   4.30pm was the time to exchange vows which gave our smitten couple the day to relax and ready themselves. In true maritime style, Laura gave Mark a Tag Heuer watch as a wedding present and it’s safe to say he was thrilled to bits as you can see!

The décor in Laura’s bridal suite was simply exquisite and the huge windows created the perfect light for bridal prep photography, with lots of natural highlights and shadows. With it’s incredibly chic layout and fabulous view across Liverpool, this wedding venue was a fabulous photographic backdrop for their wedding.

Preparation

In true style the maid of honour, Laurie, and bridesmaids, wore the same robes whilst getting ready. Their hair was styled by Claire Barnes, and Polly & Sam created their beautiful natural make-up looks, all from The cutting rooms. In addition to the bridesmaids there were three pretty little flower girls all in matching lace topped gowns. Their handsome page boy wore a fabulous navy suit grinned from ear to ear with excitement throughout the whole afternoon.

Laura’s dress was an incredible backless design from Eternity Bridal Wear. It was beautifully covered in lace and glided over her figure to the floor.  She topped it off with gold Jimmy Choo shoes and she really looked divine. Mark wore a navy suit, exclusive to John Lewis and matched his page boy. Mark’s pink tie, pocket square and button-hole perfectly matched Laura’s cream and pastel pink bouquet of roses, supplied by Flower Fashion. The same flowers were displayed delicately down the aisle, highlighting the elegance of the surroundings adding to the overall look.

Officially Mr. and Mrs.

In true modern style, a candlelit top table layout was displayed for their ceremony creating a calm and romantic atmosphere, therefore providing me with an immense photographic moment. The best man, Paul, and maid of honour, Laurie, were only a few steps away from our bride and groom. After taking their vows, our bride and groom floated out hand in hand, with the hugest smiles I have ever seen.

They spent some time together as Mr. and Mrs. on the balcony overlooking the busy skyline of Liverpool. Rather smitten with each other from that first look, Laura and Mark couldn’t keep their eyes off each other. I love moments like this and it’s what my photography style is all about – nothing posed or awkward, just gorgeous natural images.

Guests happily celebrated the afternoon and were served with a fabulous and mouth watering wedding cake, courtesy of Laura’s mum. From the picture below you can see how wonderful the cake was with many tiers and lashings of buttercream – Laura’s mum may have missed her calling!

An alternative evening

At 7pm, Laura and Mark headed straight into an evening of dancing, laughter and happiness. The Dawn played out awesome music which, as a result, had some guests taking their dancing and shape throwing to the next level.  A tambourine made an appearance and consequently became part of the guests’ routine!  To me, wedding photography is about showing the day for its true moments. No pre-planned or posed shots, unless requested, just pure, natural pictures.

Finally Laura and Mark’s first dance together was at 9.30pm. Well worth the wait, as they continued to giggle with each other throughout, like complete love birds!
